On Friday I had the pleasure of being asked by Melissa & Remmy to be their wedding photographer at St Audries Park.  As they are not heading off on a honeymoon just yet I decided to quickly edit one image from their special day so they could get to see it as quickly as possible before I work my way through the full day.

Pretty soon after the ceremony the weather decided to take a turn for the worse and the rain set in, although later into the evening as it cleared up the sky graced us with this great display and I ran off to find Melissa & Remmy for a quick photograph.

I can’t wait to edit the full set of pictures from this wedding.

I met up with Tom and Elle last year at a wedding fayre where they told about their plans for their wedding day and also of a slight nervousness at the thought of being photographed so I suggested a pre wedding shoot in Bristol at a location that they would feel comfortable with.  When they suggested a walk along Gloucester Road as the location for the shoot I was quite exited at the prospect as there’s a real mix of locations.  Here’s a selection of images from our little walk so feel free to have a look through and leave a comment or two.

Just off Gloucester Road is St Andrews Park so we headed along to start off the session away from the bustle of the busy main road.

After the park we made our way down to the bottom of Gloucester Road before making our way back up.  Gloucester Road was one of my first introductions to Bristol when I first drove down to Bristol many years ago and it’s a real eye opener with its mixture of buildings and local shops mixed in with the bright and colourful graffiti

Along a side street just off the main road was this fantastic piece of graffiti.  I love how all of the characters in the piece seem to be looking directly at Tom and Elle.

Laura and Craig got in touch with me to be their Bath Wedding Photographer after a bizarre set of messages through twitter.  You may recall I photographed them last month for their pre-wedding photoshoot as part of the run up to their gorgeous wedding at Homewood Park in Bath and what a lovely location they had chosen.  In the run up to the wedding the weather had taken a turn for the worse and we were being blessed with some horrendous periods of rain but in the morning of the wedding the sun decided to make an appearance although there were several occasions when we did have to dash for cover but on the whole the weather held for Laura, Craig and all their guests to have a wonderful time on their special day.

It was my first time at Homewood Park and I must say what a great venue it is, not only is it a lovely building in a great location but the staff were extremely helpful and most welcoming too.

Anyway, back to the job in hand – here is a selection of my favourite images from the day so I hope you’ll enjoy looking through them as much as I enjoyed photographing them.  As always feel free to leave a little love for Laura & Craig.

As always I started the day off by photographing the bridal preparations as they were in full flow.  I don’t think each member of the bridal party needed reminding of their roles but just in case it had been embellished on to the robe just in case.

It’s always a nice moment when the bride gets to see her wedding flowers for the first time on the day.  Laura had chosen flowers from The Wilde Bunch who do make the most wonderful bouquets.

Another favourite moment of a wedding is when a father gets to see his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time.

I never like to rush my couples but always like to try and capture a short period of time with them after the ceremony and once they’ve had chance to see their friends and family.  It’s also a nice time for the newlyweds to have a bit of a breather away from everyone while I capture a few portraits of them.  This next series was captured in about 10 minutes before we had to dash back inside while the rain hit.

After the meal and speeches we were able to head into the wonderful gardens of Homewood Park and capture a few more portraits.

As the evening went on I had set up a photobooth for Laura & Craig.  I won’t embarrass their friends by adding pictures of them here but just show you the happy couple.

It was a nice surprise to receive a phone call from Melissa last month to  see if I was available to be her Somerset Wedding Photographer as she and Remmy had recently set a date and are due to get married in June at the wonderful St Audries Park.  I’d met Melissa a year or so back when I photographed a wedding supplier and obviously made a lasting impression as she remembered me and made the call – must be my shy and retiring personality!!

As with the majority of my couples I suggested a pre wedding photoshoot so we could grab a coffee, have a little chat about the plans for the wedding day and then go off and grab a few pictures so that when it comes to the big day the bride & groom are a lot more relaxed at the thought of having their special day documented and are also used to having me around.

We decided to meet up on Park Street in the centre of Bristol then take a short stroll around the nearby Brandon Hill, home to the towering Cabot Tower and I tried my best to make the couple feel at ease while I captured this lovely couple in this great location.  So without further ado here is a selection of some of my favourite images from the photoshoot.  Feel free to leave a comment and show a little love for Melissa and Remmy.

It was around this point that Remmy decided to showcase his variety of different poses and ‘looks’ that he’d obviously been working hard on despite his protests that he hadn’t.

There is such an abundance of locations to make the most of around Brandon Hill, the luscious woodland, Old walls and the odd graffiti’d garage thrown in for good measure too.

We then decided to cut across Berkeley Square where there were some wonderful trees in full blossom.

As we were so close we finished off for a quick shot in front of this great bit of wall art.

I was having a little spring clean on my hard drives and came across this wedding that I was lucky enough to assist with photographing.  I had been asked by Alex Beckett if I would like to assist him with photographing Diana and David’s wedding in London so obviously I said yes.  We arranged for me to go to the Chinese Church in London where the preparations for the ceremony were taking place – the church was busily being prepared for the ceremony, friends and family were getting the buffet ready, an aunt was arranging the flowers, the band were setting up and there was a great feel of community that I hadn’t really encountered before.

This was also my first experience of a wedding in London, being a Bristol Wedding Photographer I felt pretty well adjusted to city life but London really is something different.   This wedding started in the Chinese Church In London, made a pitstop at Holland Park before reaching it’s final destination at the Millenium Gloucester Hotel, it was a truly manic day and great to be a part of.

I met up with Laura and Craig last weekend for their pre-wedding photoshoot in Prior Park Bath.  Laura and Craig have commissioned me to be their Bath Wedding Photographer when they get married at Homewood Park in Bath later this month so with the majority of my couples I suggested a pre-wedding photoshoot.  I find this process an invaluable way to get to know the bride and groom before the big day especially in this case as we had never actually met before.  Laura decided to invite wedding photographers to basically tender to be her photographer on Twitter which was definitely a first for me!

I met Laura and Craig at Prior Park in Bath on Saturday and could not believe what a gorgeous place it is.  Following such a rough run of bad weather the sun was certainly shining and it was quite difficult to believe we were a few minutes walk away from the city centre.  Here is a selection of some of my favourite images from our short time together before they had to head off to watch the rugby (I hope they made it in time!)

You might remember Andy & Alessia from this selection of images of their Clifton Pre Wedding Photoshoot, they decided that they wanted a really informal approach to their wedding photography with very few formal posed photographs but rather to capture the day as it happened.  Here is a selection of my favourite images from the day.

Alessia chose to get ready at her parents’ house in Portishead so I headed along to capture the bridal preparation.  When I arrived the fabulous Nina Norman was helping Alessia with her make-up so I grabbed a couple of quick photographs before heading off to find the dress.

Alessia had chosen a fabulous Stephanie Allin dress from The Mews in Clifton which with the added lace detail was a joy to photograph.

Andy & Alessia had chosen to get married at the very striking Clifton Cathedral and were fortunate enough to have the Bishop himself conduct the ceremony.

After a quick throw of confetti and the chance for friends to snap a few pictures of the happy couple the guests hopped on to a coach and were driven down to the waterfront to the Riverstation.  This was my first time photographing a wedding reception at the Riverstation but it was a real pleasure to do so.  The Riverstation is the prefect venue for a wedding reception with it’s waterfront terrace and having such an open and airy feel along with it’s fabulous Wedding Planner Michele there on hand to look after you.

Regular readers of my blog will more than likely be aware that I target myself as a Bristol Wedding Photographer although I am always more than happy to travel throughout the South West and indeed the UK to photograph that special day for someone although this wedding in particular saw me heading back to my home village where I became a Ruabon Wedding Photographer for a change!

It really did seem very strange to be returning to the village I grew up in and indeed the church I was confirmed in to photograph Louisa & Paul’s wedding, in fact the last time I was in a church in Ruabon was for my own wedding!

I’ve known Louisa and her family since I was a child, I was in the same class in school as her brother and Louisa was the year below us, I’d also knew Paul’s sister from my college days so it came as a great honour when Louisa got in touch to ask me if I was free to photograph her big day and of course I made sure I was.

So despite this taken much too long for me to feature on my blog here are some of my favourite images from the wedding day of Mr & Mrs Burton.

Louisa chose to get ready at her parents house so I began photographing the bridal preparations there.  It soon became obvious that ‘lucky pants’ might have a part to play on the day. 

There wasn’t any doubt on the day as to who the father of the bride was but just in case……..

Once the final touches had been made I left the bridal party and made the short journey to St Mary’s Church in Ruabon.

Just as I was getting a quick photograph of the Paul and his groomsmen the vicar realised he had forgotten something and had to make a quick dash on his pushbike back to the vicarage before the bride arrived.  That truly was a first for me!

Following the ceremony it was a short drive to the Lion Quays Resort for the reception.  I remember Lion Quays when it first opened many years ago and was quite surprised to see what a great venue it had turned in to.

It was slightly bizarre as to how she found me but a big part of it came down to Jess wanting a photobooth style setup to play a part of her day as well as the standard wedding photographs and knowing I’m a fan of a photobooth she had been pointed in my direction.  When we finally met up on the Jess and Jimmy’s pre-wedding photoshoot it was obvious what a great couple they were and how much fun their wedding day was going to be.

So here we go, I’ve finally got round to blogging one of my favourite weddings from last year just after it has been featured in Wedding Ideas magazine.

Despite living in London Jess and Jimmy had decided to get married where they grew up in Hockley Heath in the West Midlands.  The service itself took place at St Thomas Church in Hockley Heath with the reception to follow in the garden of Jess’ parents house.

As the ceremony took place the flower girl decided she would have a little stroll along the church aisle without a care in the world, until the photographer decided to take her photograph!

I’ve never been a huge fan of bossing couples about on their wedding day, it’s simply not my style as their is simply too much going on that it would be a shame not to capture.  You simply couldn’t force the love and emotion like the shot below into a staged photograph.

While the guest made their way back to the reception Jess & Jimmy took a short drive down the lanes to where we found this little spot for a few casual but intimate photographs.

From now on I think every wedding should feature a hand carved swing!

I love being able to capture the emotion of the wedding day and there is so much of it during the speeches.   The tears, the laughs and the cheers, it’s all there and a pleasure to be a part of.
