It is actually a rare occasion to be able to take a picture of the window of The Mews without having a passerby standing in awe of the beautiful dresses that adorn the window.

 With a stunning selection of dresses I look forward to photographing a bride wearing one of these masterpieces.

The delightful Team Mews looking lovely as always.  It only seemed right that Gail wore a stunning Temperley dress for the evening.

Cupcakes for the evening were supplied by Cake Couture of Bristol and I can’t testify that they were extremely tasty indeed!

When we first met I was shown Emma’s moodboard especially created for the wedding along with the bunting she has spent hours making and the vintage china they’ve been collecting.

We met up for the pre wedding shoot in Bitton at the Avon Valley Railway where there is a whole host of opportunities for photographs.  Here are a selection of my favourites from the day.

Regular viewers of my blog will know how I am a fan of doors. The more colourful the better, whether they are rusting or brightly painted I think they always make a fantastic backdrop for a photograph. I was in my element here.

Just inside the booking office and we were greeted with these vintage suitcases and an insight into how the station would have looked in years gone by.

After a quick chat with the station manager we were allowed onto the train carriages and got some fantastic photographs.  It didn’t take too long before we were heading for first class.

At this point I feel I should put a disclaimer in that climbing onto railway tracks is not advisable!

From the railway we headed to a nearby woodland that I’d found a few days earlier where we were able to capture these stunning photographs.

As a Bristol wedding photographer Clifton has so many options for photography. With it’s stunning architecture, the famous suspension bridge and lovely boutique shops there is plenty of places for a photograph.

Here is a selection of my favourites.

A lot of couples tell me that they do not feel comfortable having their picture taken so I always tell them a pre wedding shoot is just like going for a walk with a camera.

One of the great things about Clifton is that there is an abundance of scenery like these fantastic garage doors and cobbled streets.

It’s inevitable that at some point you will find yourself on the infamous Clifton suspension bridge.

I didn’t need to worry about nerves in front of the camera with Stewart and Lisa as we headed into Clifton last week.  They’ll be getting married in 6 weeks time and I’m really looking forward to being their Bristol Wedding Photographer.  Here is a selection of my favourites from their pre wedding photography in Clifton.

There is some fantastic architecture around Clifton so where better to start than a stroll along the Crescent.

I would regularly head along to the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge to try and capture that perfect landscape photograph but trying to get a picture like this is a challenge for me as I don’t have a particularly great fondness for heights!

While searching for the ever elusive parking space around Clifton Stewart & Lisa found this lovely little garden which had a beautiful magnolia tree.  It was an oasis of calm amid the bustle of the village.

Laura and Gareth chose to hold the wedding reception inside a huge teepee in the grounds of this fabulous restaurant and with views spanning across the Severn and it was a pleasure to have been asked to assist Lucy from Adam Drake Photography in photographing their special day.

The Old Passage is better known as being a 2 AA rosette seafood restaurant with rooms. Set at the end of a peninsula on a great ox-bow bend, we overlook the River and on it’s far bank, the small town of Newnham-on-Severn with the hills of the ancient Forest of Dean and the iconic May Hill offering a dramatic backdrop.

We’ve always been quite particular about the names, I guess with Lea being a teacher it’s pretty easy to associate certain names to pupils past and present so I think we probably over think them.  Sebastian (Seba) came about from liking the nickname given to an ex Manchester United footballer.  Nathaniel Louie has come about not so much from it’s meaning – ‘Gift of God’ or that I think he might take after me being ‘God’s gift’!! but a liking of the name and it’s shortened version Nate. Louie is pure and simple from Lea’s liking of the the jungle book and King Louie.

So there you go, that’s the names and allowed abbreviations sorted out you can enjoyed the pictures! I’m sure there will be a few more from time to time but feel free to say hello to Nate!

I have a little feeling that Nate was getting a little fed up of the hats at this point, I did promise him there would only be one more and this was his reaction!

The ceremony was scheduled to take place at Bristol Registry Office in the heart of Bristol with the reception later on the John Sebastian ‘Lightship’.  With having two young children Tina decide she would rather I started the coverage of the wedding by meeting up with the groom and the other wedding guests at the Registry Office.  I have to say I have never come across such a relaxed atmosphere before a wedding ceremony although as the pictures will hopefully show that Dave did have a few moments when the nerves kicked in.

One thing for sure is that the wedding was certainly a colourful affair and purple was definitely a feature.

People have always said that ‘behind every good man is a good woman’ on this day that was lucky otherwise no button-holes would have been in place!

At this point I do believe Dave was filled with a few nerves but they soon went as the flower girls walked into the room.

One day it’ll be Dave’s turn to walk these two beautiful girls down the aisle.

From the hustle and bustle of Corn St it was a short walk down to the floating harbour.

All aboard for the next stop – The John Sebastian Lightship.

Friends and family had been on hand to decorate the ship for the reception.

The reception meal was a buffet and a game of buffet bingo was played before you were allowed to get your plate. A little line or two was read out about each guest as there number was drawn out.

Dave had previously warned me about his waistcoat!

I always enjoy photographing the reactions during the wedding speeches, especially when the best man tells the story of the blessing given to the groom following their encounter with a group of druids the night before the wedding at Avebury stone circle.

It was a lovely day and again a pleasure to be a part of, here’s to many years of happiness Mr and Mrs Harker.

The upper barn is a beautiful 17th Century threshing barn has been sympathetically restored and offers an excellent venue for your wedding day, there is a large terrace and garden overlooking a large pond with ducks, geese, chickens and moor hens.  Directly attached to the Upper Barn is the Lower Barn, offering a large reception area with bar, catering kitchen and a brides dressing room.  Outside is a substantial decking area overlooking the pond.

For a Bristol Wedding Photographer it is a fantastic venue to photograph with the rolling countryside with views to the White Horse, the long private driveway and the stunning 17th century barns what more could you ask for.

Being asked to photograph someone’s wedding is both a pleasure and a privilege to me and not something that I take lightly.  Once the dress has been removed and sent off to the dry-cleaners, the fantastic meal has been eaten, the beautiful cake cut and shared amongst the guests, the first dance performed in front of the closest family and friends there are only memories of that most special of days left. So being asked to assist in recording the day when the bride herself is a talented wedding photographer with years of experience behind her truly was an honour.

The ceremony took place at the lovely Wick Farm, set in 37 acres of rolling countryside 8 miles outside of Bath.
